Emotions of the Paintbrush (song) by Marianna Foucher’s class

Inspired by the poems of Grizzly Hill – inspired by Imaginary Paintings Lisel Mueller

Chorus

If I could paint my life into a picture

Here’s what you would see

Colouring this wonderful world with the feelings that swirl

deep inside of me

V1

I would paint Happiness as a glowing ray of sunshine

a grassy green meadow with birds chirping all around

A field with a flower that never stops growing

I would paint it as Syria, returning to normal,

a group of people holding hands,

I would paint happiness as a patch work blanket on a comfy old chair

A beautiful beach with white sand and crystal blue sea, waves lapping gently

A rollercoaster of YAY!

I would paint Fear as a dog, cowering in a dark alleyway

A room with no windows, no doors

A world without a mum or dad or family

Speaking loud but not being able to hear anything

A whirring grim grey tornado, tearing up all in it’s path, unstoppable and giddying

A never ending corridor lit only by black candles covered in cobwebs

Chorus

If I could paint my life into a picture

Here’s what you would see

Colouring this wonderful world with the feelings that swirl

deep inside of me

V2

I would paint Illness as a hospital waiting room, magazines and books unread, untouched

an atmosphere of disguised distress

I would paint Death as a dark figure, dressed in a black cloak

always lurking in the shadows

Darth Vader standing on the Death Star

A waterfall that never stops running

I would paint Anger as a dark forest, blocking all the light

A black hole in outer space

A tree burning to the ground

A tall mountain starting to crumble

Thrashing waves, waiting for something to drag down to the abyss.

I would paint Sadness as my grandma dying

a raging river flowing through a street, dirt and stone crumbling down

It would be the colour of the deep black sea

a door where you need a friend, to get through

I would paint Forgiveness as one fingertip touching another slowly

I would paint Patience as a fox,

waiting for the rainclouds to pass and the thunder to die down

A tree, waiting and waiting to blossom snow white with flowers

I would paint Bliss as the stars, shining bright, illuminating the gorgeous sky

Chorus

If I could paint my life into a picture

Here’s what you would see

Colouring this wonderful world with the feelings that swirl

deep inside of me

V3

I would paint Hope as a small flower growing in a sea of ash

A cat trying to jump

Sitting on a park bench, waiting for friends

A closed down McDonalds

A small flickering flame on a cold winters night

A smile from a person who has never found love

I would paint my Dreams with me riding a silvery blue dragon

soaring through the clouds as fast as lightening

I would paint Freedom as an owl, flying over a lake and past the moon

I would paint Desire as a heart growing slowly, gradually filling with more love

like a flower opening and standing proud amongst the sharp grass

I would paint Peace as a Saturday morning

a deep empty nothing

green grass, sky blue

nothing but you

I would paint the Future as deep and colourful

a butterfly chased by a child

a cold river shimmering by my feet

jumping on water slides in the hot sun

a world of kindness

a million pounds

a shelf, full of fun and surprises

and a hand reaching up towards it, but not quite there yet

Chorus

If I could paint my life into a picture

Here’s what you would see

Colouring this wonderful world with the feelings that swirl

deep inside of me
