Pride by Kudaskwashe Chitapi

– Pride comes before a fall – these are the words of a man who lacks ambition.

I’d rather feign the ability to dance and court Chance,

Than miss Lady Luck in life’s stupid preordained game of Russian Roulette.

Both might have similar outcomes, but what is life without risk?

What is risk without trying?

What is trying, without having something to prove?

Uncertainty is the main ingredient in the sentience of humanity,

And I can’t waste the life of dying second,

Minute,

Or hour,

Pondering on how my success is received.

Success speaks and accomplishment whispers,

Either way,  I want to be heard.

I need that sense of honour,

I need that sense of sufficiency,

I need that sense of Pride
