The Snowflake

By: Elijah Keedwell

Age: 12 – 13

As the sun rose over the land, ready to scorch the earth and its inhabitants, the children cried out for relief from the sweltering rays but none came.

Suddenly dark clouds shroud the skies and plunged the land into darkness. The children had no idea what to do until a single snowflake fell from the sky and then another and before they knew it, they were buried in the light white powder

And even though they knew it could not last forever, it was bliss – for now.
