What can I say? – By Abla Jabeur, Year 8

What can I say
A grief is devouring my limbs
A grief is ripping all my veins apart
A grief is blocking my breath

I look at the stars, sad, in distress
I see sadness, hunger, ignorance and the siege

This is the story of an occupied, wronged nation
I see no future for a generation after a generation

I see orphans and widows
I see a mother fighting for her kids’ bread

What can I say, and then what can I tell
Who am I to beg and who am I to call ?

other peoples?
But why do I call them …? Why do call them
While they see everything and they hear everything

How could I say when the fierce wind has blown all my rights away?
