Jamital Islam Imran’s The Kite

James Douglas and Gian Choudhry

Losing the thread, O my kite,

Going to the unknown village

I feel uncertain,

It feels like

A turning point

A fork stuck in the road.

Unsure about what to do,

My kite, O how high it flew.

I was so pleased,

It was like finding

A whole dinosaur skeleton,

Something so rare, so short lived

Then it all came crashing down.

The kite from up high

Landing down in water.

I watch it in fear, in rage,

O the rage I felt.

I felt like a volcano

About to erupt for no reason.
