Hope and Memory

By: Rhiannon Ashby

As the dust gains cover
Your fallen brothers
You must say this last goodbye.
Night is now falling
So ends this day,
In sorrow and toil
And your homes far away

Sleep now
And dream of those who came before
They are calling,
From across a distant shore
Go to sleep and forget
Your grief and your fear
Today ends in sadness
But tomorrow brings hope

Lay down your head
And close your sleepy eyes
And when again they open
The sun will rise
Deep in the meadow
Hidden far away
A cloak of leaves
A moonbeam ray

Forget your woes and let
Your troubles lay
And when again its morning
They’ll wash away
