I am the Innocence amid the Wars – By Mays EL-Reem, Year 9

I am the innocence amid the wars
the miseries chasing me down the pathways
I am a smile of weakness that surfaced to tell a dead love story
I am the one whose screams have been used in songs
I am the one whose rights have hardened, then broken up then evaporated
I am the one who when dead my entrails came out to call for peace
I am the one whose screams turned off the star
I am the one whose words have shaken the galaxies
I am the one whose sighs multiplied, dispersed and then scattered
I wish my cousin nearby had heard me
My brother next to me, supporting me, comforting me
My stolen smiles are still calling me.
